  • Summer Vault Opens in Millennium Park

    Summer Vault, a lakefront kiosk, is on display next to the bean as part of the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial. The kiosk will be in Millennium Park until April, when it will be moved to its permanent site in Hyde Park. It was designed by Paul or Paul.

  • Chicago Architecture Biennial Lakefront Kiosk

    The Chicago Architecture Biennial published the designs for four lakefront kiosks that will be central projects for the three month exhibition. Independent Architecture and Paul Preissner Architects designed one of the kiosks, which will be in Millennium Park from October – January, before being permanently installed on the lakefront in Hyde Park.

  • Name Change

    We are changing our name from Indie Architecture to Independent Architecture. In recent years we’ve become less comfortable with “Indie”, its growing trendiness, and the idea that we embody a genre of design. “Independent” fits us better. It is a more generic and open name that allows our work to define our company’s identity.
  • Foam Thing at the Biennial of the Americas

    The Biennial of the Americas kicked off seven weeks of programming at the new pavilion, designed by Independent Architecture and Paul Preissner Architects. The central installation of large geofoam blocks provided a backdrop for a press conference with Governor Hickenlooper and will host a wide range of panels, talks, and events.
